what is the pansy project?

So you've found your way to the Pansy Project site, and even if you are already a pansy you are wondering what we are all about. Don't worry it's not an easy idea to explain or understand, so please bear with us.

It could be that most ideas thought up in the bath are obscure, or it could be that the way we live now makes it hard to understand anything thats sole purpose is to make people smile.

Yup, thats it. Well, there might be a bit more.

We live in a global village, our society has become so beautifully integrated that at times it becomes hard to identify with any cause or group. The Pansy Project loves the fact that we are integrated, but at the same time can't help but remember when we were growing up and felt like we were the only ones. What we really want to achieve is a recognisable image or logo or something that can be identified easily, so that if you know us or are one of us and you see that logo or image, you instantly know you belong.

The way in which we are doing this, to start with anyway, is handing out caps at large marches or parades, for free. We chose caps for the dissapointing reason that we like caps, besides which at a big outdoor gathering thay are really handy. Attached to each cap is a small tag with the sponsors details. We are completely non-profit and each cap is sponsored at cost price, if you want to sponsor caps feel free to go to the sponsor section of the site. As a sponsor you do get your logo and details on the tag of each cap and the same in the sponsor section of our page, and if you like, a link to your site. If anyone ever asks you to pay for a Pansy cap, know you are being ripped off, Pansy caps are free and someone selling them is totaly the opposite spirit of the Pansy Project.

That's it really, a project to make people smile and feel like they belong. Maybe something like what a family used to be, we like to think that the Pansy Project is just that. So if you ever see a Pansy hat or logo or anything, don't worry about that warm feeling you get it's perfectly normal.

After chatting to some people who made it clear that the waffling on this page was not a very good explanation a very good friend of mine slash sister in law suggested one sentence to describe the whole thing. " If people feel that they don't fit in, the Pansy Project is somewhere that they can." I thought that was pretty cool, so thanks Carly.
